Spring of 2016 has sprung, kind of...

Lawn Early April 2016

The spring of 2016 has brought just as many surprises and challenges as any in the past few years since we began writing this blog.  The spring began with a lot of early sunshine in March and no snow cover, which resulted in little to no snow mold on the lawn this spring.  The early sunny days allowed for the grass to begin greening up as the sun began slowly rising higher in the sky.  Although the temperatures did not rise early the sunlight allowed for the first phase of the lawn to begin waking in spring.  The lawn goes through two stages in spring, greening up- which allows for sunlight absorption to begin producing food for the plant through photosynthesis.  The second stage of spring lawn is growth which comes after photosynthesis begins and soil temperatures rise with warming temperatures.  Various weather conditions each spring is what causes varying spring green up and growth.

Lawns are beginning to grow now with the recent more warmer temperatures.  Generally the lawn has been mowed several time by mid-April, but many lawns have yet to be mowed as of April 28.  The lawns are very green this spring compared to recent past spring Aprils.  The greenest lawns right now are those that had a late fall winterizer application and the early spring lawn service this year.  Comparing pictures from last April the lawns look great as of today's date.  We are now beginning our second spring lawn application, which is a higher Nitrogen fertilizer with Iron and micro nutrients to help the turf during the growth stage of spring.  Now is the time to get the lawn growing as thick and as healthy as possible as the growing conditions are ideal for cool season grasses.

Aerations, seeding and soil enrichment are also great services for the lawn while it is in growth mode.  Soil enrichment allows for organic matter to be added to the soil to help feed the very important microbes which will begin assisting the grass roots in feeding the turf.  This organic matter is included in all of our lawn services and is what allows our service and results to stand out against our competition.  If you would like to know more about our products or services please do not hesitate to email, call us or visit any of our social media sites and strike up a conversation.
