What Does a Lawn Care Technician Do at Lawn Doctor?

As a Lawn Care Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in helping homeowners achieve beautiful, healthy lawns. Here's a closer look at what you'll be doing:

  • Apply professional lawn care treatments: You'll use fertilizers, weed control, pest management products, and soil amendments to improve turf health.
  • Perform aeration, seeding, and soil enrichment: Techniques like core aeration, power seeding, and Hydra-Guard treatments are key to our services.
  • Operate professional equipment: You'll work with Turf Tamers, spreaders, sprayers, and other tools to deliver expert results.
  • Drive between customer properties: Use a company-provided vehicle to follow your route and visit lawns in Antioch, Gurnee, Kenosha, Racine, and nearby areas.
  • Customer interaction: Answer questions, offer service recommendations, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Inspect lawns and document conditions: Monitor turf for signs of disease, weeds, pests, or other issues and report findings to the team.

A typical day starts with gearing up at our local office, loading products and tools into your company vehicle, and heading out to your assigned route. You'll enjoy the fresh air and variety as you visit lawns in Northeast Illinois and Southeast Wisconsin.   • Pesticide applicator license: A plus if you already have certification, but we'll train and help you get licensed.

Heat tracking in lawns

We have recently noticed a few instances of a somewhat rare phenomenon in the lawn care industry that we would like to point out in an effort to better communicate to both our customers and those interested in lawn care.  Along with the previously posted summer stress issues for the lawn in this blog, we wanted to bring up a more recent issue which is very rare but is currently a potential for lawns across the Antioch, Lake Villa, Lindenhurst, Gurnee, Lake Forest and Waukegan area.  This recent phenomenon is referred to by some in the industry as heat tracking. Heat tracking occurs when pressure is applied to the lawn from foot traffic, lawn mowers, fertilizer spreaders or anything else that can compress the leaf tissue down to the ground below.  When  this pressure is applied at the exact time frame (usually early afternoon at the peak heat of the day) that the turf is at its wilting point or entering dormancy stage it breaks the leaf tissue at the base o...
